Community-Based Mentoring

Every young person deserves someone in their corner.

How It Works

What It Means to Be a Big

You don’t need special training. You don’t need to be a superhero. You just need to be there.

Becoming a Big is one of the most rewarding decisions you can make. By showing up consistently and listening, you can help a young person gain the confidence and support they need to thrive.

Together, you’ll spend time doing everyday things: grabbing lunch, playing sports, exploring hobbies, talking about school, or just hanging out. Over time, your relationship becomes something that changes both of your lives:

  • Matches meet about four hours a month based on shared interests
  • Mentor on your own as a Big, together as a Big Couple, or as a Big Family
  • Activities are flexible: sports, hobbies, homework help, or just hanging out
  • Ongoing support and training from program staff throughout the match
