South Dakota Youth Hunting Adventures Chapter of Pass It On
Hunting Mentor (Community based)
A collaboration of youth, hunting and conservation organizations, along with ranchers/landowners, and state agencies have come together to create a nonprofit program called South Dakota Youth Hunting Adventures Chapter of Pass It On. Our sole purpose is to provide a quality youth doe hunt opportunity with the vision of developing it in to an annual event.

Provide 80 youth (ages 12-15) with an opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor experience and harvest a doe if they desire.
Educate youth about safety and hunting etiquette taught by South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.
Promote shooting sports, hunting and wildlife conservation to the youth in the Rapid City area.
Educate youth about the relationship between hunting and conservation resources.
Promote the rancher as a conservationist.
Combine the efforts of landowners and SD Game, Fish and Parks Personnel to education youth on wildlife and land conservation.

Mentoring is the key to success! SDYHA Chapter of Pass It On working hard to create one of the finest mentoring programs with the most dedicated mentors. A great deal of emphasis is put on properly preparing the mentor for his/her role with the hunting youth. Mentoring provides opportunities to forge a relationship with the outdoors and connect them with nature.

Who are these mentors? Experienced Hunters within the Black Hills Community! They have the knowledge, skill, love of the sport and expertise in hunting. They also have something to share. They are a friend, confidant and a guide. They truly care about wanting to help children develop a love for nature and hunting. They are supportive and encouraging, patient, open minded and a good listener. The mentor is willing to give the time and attention that is needed for someone – the key components for reaching our youth.
